Rehab in Washington State
Deciding to enter treatment for your addiction disorder is not an easy decision, and you might be wondering how to choose a facility that is going to fit all of your needs during treatment. It is important to look for a treatment center that caters to both your physical and mental wellbeing. Here at Free by the Sea, a rehabilitation center located in the State of Washington, we believe our facilities offer every outlet and level of care to fit your specific addiction disorder.
We take a medical and psychological approach to addiction, and we understand that a lack of morals, self-control, or willpower does not cause an addiction to a substance. Instead, we view addiction as a physical and emotional chemical dependency that is difficult to break without specialized support and professional medical help.
Who is Affected by Addiction?
Addiction does not discriminate against anyone and is a very common, harmful disease in the United States. More than 23 million Americans abuse drugs each year, and another 17 million are dependent on alcohol. Out of this population, 40 to 60 percent of recovered individuals are likely to relapse multiple times after completing rehab.
Abuse and dependency not only affects the addicted individual but those around them, as well. Oftentimes, relationships with family members and friends who are close to the addict suffer because of the tight hold addiction has on their loved one. The disorder affects the people closest to them at the same level just in a different way.
Fortunately, Free by the Sea offers rehab services that help those living with addiction work towards achieving lifetime sobriety. Our staff works tirelessly to provide around the clock care to our patients and keep their loved ones updated on their progress.
What Factors Influence Addiction?
Many factors can work together to influence an individual to develop an addiction disorder, and it is important to be aware of the types of triggers to watch out for. Here are some reasons why someone may become addicted to a substance:
- Type of Drug Used: There are substances that are more addictive than others. For example, having an occasional alcoholic drink has a lot less potential for addiction than injecting a dosage of heroin. Each substance has risks, but some are far more dangerous.
- Genes: Our family history has a lot to do with a predisposition to developing a substance abuse disorder. If you have a family member that has had trouble with addiction in the past, it is more likely that you can also be subject to developing an addiction.
- Already Existent Mental Disorder: Mental disorders like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, etc. are very influential in the development of another disorder like substance abuse. It is predicted that 1 in every 4 individuals who suffer from some form of a mental disorder will also develop a substance addiction.
- Environmental Influences: The people we surround ourselves with have a huge influence on the choices we make. If you are constantly surrounded by family members or friends who struggle with addiction and are constantly abusing substances, you are more likely to abuse yourself.
Rehab Offers a Fresh Start
Being in a new location surrounded by encouragement for recovery is the only way you will begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel for your addiction. If you continue to live in the environment you’ve become accustomed to, you will only continue the destructive behavioral patterns you have developed.
The first step towards recovery is always admitting to the problem at hand, and we understand that this can be an extremely scary thing to do. Our staff at Free by the Sea is here to ease your mind and help you remember that rehab is an opportunity for a fresh start. If you decide to receive treatment from us, we will welcome you with open arms.
What Happens in Rehab?
Rehabilitation often starts off with a mental and physical evaluation of the potential patient. Our specialists will determine the severity of addiction they are facing, so we can better understand what types of treatments and therapies they will possibly need.
Once evaluated, our professionals will decide whether the patient will need to begin the detoxification process. Detox is how a substance is medically removed from the body. This is done over a period of time instead of all at once.
What Happens After Detox?
After detox placement is completed, we will determine what level of treatment, whether it be inpatient, partial hospitalization, or intensive outpatient, will be best suited to help fight their addiction disorder. Inpatient is more intensive and is monitored by our staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whereas outpatient treatment allows the patient to maintain some sort of a normal schedule while attending therapy.
Each patient will have a plan that is specific to their needs and their length of stay within our facilities. They will attend individual therapy that allows them to work one-on-one with our licensed therapists to get to the root of their addiction. Patients will also participate in group therapy sessions that encourage them to share their stories with others going through similar situations and develop lasting bonds of support.
Our desired end goal for each patient that passing through our programs is that they have a better understanding of why their addiction happened in the first place and what they can do to prevent relapsing. We also strive to help them relearn basic life skills that they may have forgotten or not been practicing while under the influence of their substance disorder.

We provide licensed therapists, chemical dependency professionals, and educators to help our clients understand their addictions and the reasons they use drugs and alcohol. We also provide exercise and recreational time, nutritious meals, and relaxing rooms in which our clients can rest and reflect.
Studies have shown that moderate to long-term stays in residential rehabilitation facilities give individuals the best chance to recover from their addictions. We offer a structured environment in which our clients feel safe and secure. Our clients are encouraged to work through the underlying problems that are often the catalysts for their addictions, including depression, anxiety, and social disorders. We recognize the importance of diagnosing and treating these problems to facilitate recovery.
A treatment program cannot be effective unless it addresses every aspect of an individual’s addiction. We teach life skills and coping mechanisms to help individuals avoid relapse.
