Choosing a facility for drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment is an important decision. You should select a treatment center where you feel comfortable and supported. The place where you get help for addiction should be equipped with a staff that fully understands the needs of those in recovery. Finally, you should seek a rehab center that strives to help you achieve success and overall health and freedom.

Treatment for addiction should address people’s specific needs. It should have an individualized approach rather than a generalized one. We recognize that each of our clients has unique experiences and lives. This is why we avoid using a “one-size-fits-all” approach.
Young adults who struggle with substance use disorders often have different needs than older adults. So, treatment for young adults may take these needs into account, ensuring that young individuals get the help they need in the best way possible.
Older adults typically have needs that differ from those of young people. So, it may be best for senior adults to seek help from a more age-geared treatment program. An age-specific rehab program can address the unique needs seniors may have.
Many older adults turn to substance use for very different reasons than younger people do. While peer pressure, stress, and anxiety may be contributing factors for young adults, grief or loneliness may be more prevalent contributing factors in older adults’ lives. A rehab program for seniors is likely more effective for older individuals than a general program.
Gender-specific treatment can be helpful for those who are dealing with addiction. Many times, women have different recovery needs than men do. So, finding an addiction rehab program that meets those specific needs is often the best option.
Also known as “inpatient treatment”, residential treatment for addiction is often quite effective for those who are working toward recovery. While in a residential program, individuals live at their rehab center for the duration of their treatment. This enables them to receive round-the-clock care. It also allows them to spend time in a healthy, substance-free environment. This is often essential as many people have unhealthy home environments that may be harmful to their recovery.
Outpatient treatment can play a massive role in addiction recovery. An intensive outpatient program can help individuals to transition from life in residential treatment back into everyday life outside of treatment. But, while an IOP is not as intensive as an inpatient program, it provides the structure and tools necessary for recovery.
Many individuals who suffer from addiction also have co-occurring mental health disorders. Professionals call this a dual diagnosis. Those who are living with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders should seek help from a treatment program that addresses both disorders.
Addressing only one disorder will likely prove to be ineffective. This is due to several factors. For one, many individuals develop substance use disorders as a result of mental health challenges. For instance, a person who suffers from an anxiety disorder may turn to alcohol use in order to cope with the effects of anxiety. On the other hand, a person who suffers from a drug use disorder may develop depression.
Co-occurring disorders are often connected, which means that treating only one will be unhelpful. Thankfully, however, dual diagnosis programs can address each of these areas.
Those who come to our substance abuse recovery center can find hope and healing through therapy for addiction. Our team is equipped with certified substance abuse counselors. This includes licensed mental health therapists. Each individual who enters our treatment programs can benefit from the therapeutic approaches we offer here at Free by the Sea!
This type of therapy occurs in a group setting, complete with a group of recovering individuals and one or more therapists. While in therapy sessions, individuals can speak with and listen to others, discussing various challenges and victories as they work toward recovery together. Group therapy helps individuals to develop interpersonal and communication skills. It also helps people to know that they are not alone in their struggles, giving them the opportunity to develop support systems.
This kind of therapy occurs in a one-on-one setting, with just one recovering individual and a therapist or counselor. While in an individual therapy session, recovering individuals can feel free to talk about their personal experiences without fear of judgment. This therapeutic approach enables people to work through their emotions and experiences in a more comfortable and confidential setting.
CBT is a type of therapy that helps people to identify and address harmful or unhealthy cognitive behaviors. As individuals begin to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns in their lives, they may begin to see the connection between negative thought processes and addiction. CBT helps people to learn how to uncover and replace those thinking patterns with positive ones.
Dialectical behavior therapy can be helpful for those suffering from various mental health disorders. It works to help people learn to recognize and manage their emotions on a daily basis. DBT is also helpful for people who have suffered from the effects of grief, loss, trauma, and more.
EMDR therapy works to help people who are struggling with the effects of trauma and dealing with mental health disorders such as PTSD. It works to help equip recovering individuals with healthy coping mechanisms.
These coping skills can be helpful throughout recovery as individuals may find themselves in difficult or challenging situations. Often, those who suffer from substance dependence turn to alcohol or drug use in difficult moments. But, through therapy approaches like EMDR, individuals can learn how to deal with these situations in a better and more healthy way.
Telehealth is a service that allows individuals to receive therapy and treatment for addiction without having to physically go to a rehab facility. This can be helpful for those who do not have transportation or must remain at home for specific reasons.
It’s not easy to overcome addiction. Substance use disorders have a way of affecting every area of a person’s life. They inject and insert themselves into people’s physical, emotional, and mental lives. As a result, individuals who suffer from addiction often find themselves feeling broken, alone, and unworthy. Even if a person begins to desire treatment for addiction, it can be hard to move past these negative emotions and feelings.
But, here are Free by the Sea, our mission is to help people find their way to a new way of life. We know that guilt and shame often plague the lives of those who suffer from substance use disorder.
